american hegemony

In my last post i've criticized extremism among muslims that lead to this bad idea a lot of westerners have of islam and muslims , in this post i want to talk about the other part of the problem , namely the american policy in the world specially towards arabs and muslims , i hate playing the role of victim but the truth is that we've suffered a lot of humiliation directly or indirectly , directly through invasion , threatning , interference in our domestic affairs, and indirectly through supporting dictators and corrupted goverments when they serve american interests , and getting rid of them under the cover of spreading democracy when " mission accomplished " , isn't that a double standard , a pure hypocrisy? another basis of american policy is to deceive american public and to direct its attention to other concerns other than unempleyment , education , and what happened since president Bush declared war on terrorism ? all i can see is chaos , attacks everywhere , innocent people dying everyday , the war on terror has brought only destruction , more hatred between nations , it seems that the american administration is preparing a dark agenda for this poor world , i'm trying to be optimistic , but what's happening these days is not very promising , even in america itself civil rights are regressing in front of "patriotism" , and the new speech explains all the agenda : either you're with us or against us , it reminds me Hitlerian speech warning people they have no choice but to agree with the Fuhrer's ideology , and what was the aftermath ? a total destruction . wish you better days humankind .....

I am in favor of returning to the original ideal for the U.S. of A, which was strong state governments and a weak federal governemnt.

My solution for this to repeal the U.S. 16th amendment (income Tax). If you take a way the money, they can not fund the excess.

One would think it would be easy to get rid of taxes, because everyone hates taxes, right? But, probably because of entitlements to the poor, it is not so easy politically.

What do you think the motivation is for President Bush and the other U.S Leadership?

Don't you think Afghanistan is better off then it was under the Taliban?

Don't you think Iraq is better off without Saddam and with free elections. Do you not think that those who destroy life and property are a bigger problem in Iraq than the America presence?

Also, I believe the Americans would leave Iraq a lot sooner if the situation became stable. It seems to me that the behavior of causing instability is at cross purposes to the goal of getting the Americans out.

Even if one did not like the governement, it seems to me that it would be a better strategy to create stability and wait for the Americans to leave, and then rise up and try to take control.

So anyway, the lawlessness seems sort of brainless mob behavior to me.

criticizing american policy doesn't mean that i'm fan of Taliban regime !!! and i think president Clinton was much better in dealing with foreign affairs ,maybe Afghanistan is better , but it's not the case in Iraq , and it's almost impossible to establish security in the near future ,tens of innocent people are killed everyday ,you would say it's the terrorists who kill , but it's the american invasion which made Iraq an open war zone , iraqi citizens are paying a high price of this small (!!!)american miscalculation ,i think U.S are not as democratic as it would seem ,citizens are not really involved in the process of taking important decisons , and also because of the pressure the government is making againt other voices in the country .secretary of state Rice has said " for decades we have supported dictatorships in the arab world , we thought it would help stability in the region , but we were wrong " . U.S should rethink it's policy towards the rest of the world as soon as possible .

i too am not a fan of the "with us or against us" of the Bush administration. Also how "free" the elections are in Iraq is up for debate.

I am not an expert, but I am thinking that they were more free than the elections of the previous government.

more free than the previous government, perhaps. but what about the candidates? who decides? this goes into the "is iraq better off" debate.
personally, i think the elections in iraq (as well as the constitution quagmire) are essentially SSDD. what a shame.

Sorry. What is SSDD?

SSDD - same shit, different day. That's what US foreign policy has as a guideline. It's all strategic and/or commercial: if a country is of no strategic / commercial interest to the US, they can get away with what they want. Sudan anyone? South Africa twenty years ago?? What about American Indians, African Americans? If Iraq hadn't such huge amounts of oil, American troups would long be history. They wouldn't even have invaded Iraq in the first place. Costs of war amount to around 100 BILLION US dollars. Bush wouldn't spend so much money on humanitarian aids. No way.
