saving algeria

do you know algeria ? it's a north african arab muslim republic ( even if we have some troubles about the word "arab",it's another story , i'll tell you later ) that defeated the powerful colonial france , but forty years after that glorious independance the country find itself in front of a politcal storm that lead to non glorious civil war causing the killing of at least 150 000 men and women among civilians , soldiers and islamists , it's a real tragedy specially when it occurs among muslims who are aware of the price of muslim life and any innocent life , unfortunately in the case of algeria corrupted politics had more power than wisdom , today corruption still exist and will continue to exist till the day of judgment but hamdu lillah , the situation is different in many levels , and with the efforts president bouteflika is making we can be hopeful and expect improvements ( i'm not one of president bouteflika soldiers and i do have some critics about him but honestly saying he's the best politician and leader algeria have for the moment , and i should recognize the great efforts he's done to improve the image of the country abroad and i think the majority of algerian people admire his the intelligence even if they do feel bored about his long speeches on tv ) , i'll tell more about my homeland next time , salam alaikom .

thank you sister , i'm really happy to receive your comments ,also happy to know you're married to an algerian (so i'm one of your in-laws ) ,he should has done a lot of good deeds in his life to be rewarded by allah with a woman like you sister ,i've visited your blog and i found it great,i really enjoyed what you've said about algerian food,as for president bouteflika (only his enemies called him boutef ,i know you did'nt mean it,otherwise you should have explanations )i think he came in the right time ,he has plans , projects ,he is very serious about improving the country ,but i have to recognize he is also a bit narcissic and have some disdain for other politics ( they have proven they deserve it ), anyway i hope he will secceed in his job .

Oh, I have a funny story for you. One of my Algerian friends who happens to speak spanish was in washington, and this guy starts speaking to him in spanish. My Algerian friend, confused, replies in Spanish. Then the guy asks him where he is from, and my friend says, "Algeria." So then the guy says, "well why do you speak Spanish? There's no such place is Algeria. You should be proud of your hispanic heritage!"
Some people don't know where Algeria is. Sigh.

I sailed past Algeria while in the Navy. It is unfortunate that independence has not gone better for your country. I do hope President Bouteflika makes a difference.
